You can then enter the IP address of the printer, set the protocol to HP Jetdirect-Socket, leave the queue name blank, change the Name to Brother Printer and leave the Location blank. When you select to add the printer, change from the Default view to the IP view (click the IP icon). If you can connect to the internal web page of the printer then you may also be able to add the printer using its IP address instead of relying on Bonjour. This should result in you connecting to the internal web page of the printer. Do you see it?Īlso, if you know the IP address of the printer, you can enter this as a URL in Safari. If you enable this, you will see Bonjour in the Bookmarks Bar and when you select it, if the Mac can see the printer then it should be shown here. Then under one of the tabs there is an option to enable Bonjour in the Bookmarks Bar. To check the Bonjour side of things, you can open Safari and then open its Preferences. So you need to determine why the Mac cannot see it. I would be surprised if it was the latter, because just about all Brother printers that I've seen do support Bonjour. If the printer is not appearing in the Default Add printer view, then it is either not using the same network that the Mac is or the printer does not support an advertising protocol like Bonjour.
